FUCK!

To make a long story short, starting with last Friday, this has been a shit week for my friends and family. So rather than boring you with the sordid details, I’ll rant about something else that on my tits, but isn’t that important in the grand scheme of things.

The New York Fucking Mets!






Now as a fan I understand that at the end of the day all we get when a team succeeds is a t-shirt (19.99 MSRP), stating the year and level of accomplishment for that particular season. But as fans we treasure that t-shirt, hell we’ll even buy alternate versions down the line to further commemorate the blessed event. Yes, please take more of our money! We wear it proudly until it falls apart, then we buy another one, hoping to replace that t-shirt with a new one if your team is fortunate enough to make another run the following year. It’s the 2007 and I want my fucking t-shirt.

But that may not be in the cards.













Now as a super fan occasionally referred to as “that guy wearing the Mets shoes,” I can go on record as stating that what's happening to my team is unprecedented. This would be an historic choke, even worse the 2004 Yankees; at least the Red Sox were good! The Mets are blowing games to teams that have less wins than they have losses! Since 1933, no team has ever lost a lead of at least 7 games and not won the division. What in the fuck is going on? They are making the South Beach All Stars and the Washington Expos look like reincarnates of the Big Red machine! These are the times when having ESPN alerts fuck you, since I’m starting to cringe each and every time I get a text message after 8:40 pm. I wonder who blew the game tonight. Is it the bullpen or one of our All-Stars compiling footage for next years MLB blooper reel? Will I hear fans chant “2007” every time I walk into enemy territory? As red sox fans will attest, no one deserves that fate, except for phillies fan. I hate them and they all can go fuck themselves. Granted I couldn’t argue with their chants of “You can’t beat us” but over the two games I attended at Shea last weekend, I’ve never witnessed a more unruly set of douches this side of the Atlantic, some of their comments made soccer fans sound like pussies. No joke.

From today’s ESPN recap of last night’s game:

“Minus Wagner, New York gave up three runs in the ninth that forced extra innings. Starter Tom Glavine, unbeaten since July 2, failed to hold a 3-0 lead. Right fielder Lastings Milledge was ejected after he flied out in the seventh. Reliever Aaron Heilman was hit by a ball thrown from the stands in the eighth.”

Not that I advocate this type of behavior, but it should be noted that the ball in question was thrown by a met fan on crutches! I was just happy to see someone get a timely hit wearing team colors. I won’t even begin dissecting how things have gone to shit since recently everyone is fucking up, equally. Way to spread the mediocrity! We are all feeling the frustration, I understand that no team is guaranteed success on a yearly basis (or since 1992 if you are the Pirates) but these guys seem to be channeling 2006 playoff A-rod! All I hope is somehow we right the ship and make it to the postseason, where anything could happen; after all I want my fucking t-shirt!
